SLD (Super Low Dispersion) and ELD (Extra Low Dispersion) glass elements eliminate transverse chromatic aberration, while an aspherical lens corrects various other aberrations and ensures sharp imaging performance at any point from the closest focusing distance of 40cm to infinity. An HSM drive increases the speed and quietness of autofocusing and enables fulltime manual focusing, making this large-aperture standard lens applicable to a wide range of scenes.

so this shows tt the glass is good, thus very sharp images =)

The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the new 30mm F1.4 EX DC HSM for the Four Thirds fitting. Two SLD glass elements are especially effective in the compensation of magnification chromatic aberration. A molded glass aspherical lens at the rear lens group reduces colour aberration and provides high-quality image results. The lens creates exceptionally sharp images of high contrast from its minimum focusing distance of 40cm to infinity. The HSM design provides quiet high-speed auto-focus with full-time manual focus override. The large maximum aperture of F1.4 produces a versatile lens that performs superbly in a great range of applications including portraiture, indoor and studio work and landscape photography.
- Large Maximum Aperture of F1.4 - New special lens coating reduces flare and ghosting in digital SLR cameras - Two SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements and a hybrid aspherical lens provide the utmost correction for all types of aberrations - Equipped with HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) system
Internal focusing means the front element does not rotate, allowing for use of the screw-in petal shaped hood (included) and for convenient use of circular polarizing filters. It is also possible to attach an 62mm filter in front of the lens hood.
